Police: Man Knocked Woman Down, Tried To Rape Her In Elmhurst, Queens

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday were asking for help from the public in finding an attempted rape suspect in Elmhurst, Queens.

Around 4:50 a.m. on Saturday of last week, a 23-year-old woman was walking along Gleane Street near Elmhurst Avenue in Queens, when the suspect grabbed her from behind and punched her in the head, police said.

The woman fell to the ground, and the suspect tried to grab her once she was down, but she resisted, police said.

The suspect forcibly touched the woman and then fled, police said.

Police have released a surveillance video of a suspect in the case.
