Police: Convicted Killer Who Escaped Queens Psychiatric Facility Caught In Tennessee
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have captured a convicted killer who they said escaped a Queens psychiatric facility.
Raymond Morillo, 33, escaped from the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens Village around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday by switching clothing with a friend who was visiting him, police said.
After the switch, both managed to walk out of the facility undetected, police said.
Morillo was apprehended around 10:30 p.m. Thursday inside the Greyhound Bus terminal in Memphis, Tenn. He'll be held there until his extradition.
His alleged accomplice was arrested Wednesday and faces charges of criminal impersonation and obstruction of governmental administration.
Morillo served 15 years in prison for manslaughter and assault for shooting a man at the corner of 102nd Street and 37th Avenue in Queens in May 1998. He's been confined to Creedmoor since completing his sentence.
