As 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg reported, dancers streamed out of every door and into the school's courtyard in a New Orleans-style march, led by principal Laura Scott.

Jaws dropped when the students saw the school's leader in action.

"Usually she doesn't dress up in an army general's costume," one student said.

But the kids weren't the only ones who were thrilled.

"It was crazy, you're scared, you've got butterflies, and you're so nervous at the same time you know you're just out there to have fun for the kids," said one participant.

Added one parent, "I was anxious to see how my kids would react. They were in awe."
