NYPD: Suspect Caught After Shooting At Pair Of Officers In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD apprehended a suspect who shot at two plainclothes officers early Friday morning in Brooklyn.
The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. when the department's anti-crime unit received information about a suspicious man with a firearm in front of 21 Mill Street.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they said they spotted a man with a gun in his waistband walking toward a deli near Mill and Hicks streets.
Authorities said that when the officers approached the suspect, he immediately ran off toward the Red Hook Housing Development and into 21 Mill Street.
The officers pursued the suspect and that is when police said he turned toward them and fired his weapon once at officers. Police said the officers did not return fire.
The suspect, described as a 20-year-old man, was caught after he fled into 21 Mill Street before he was apprehended without further incident inside 15 Mill Street.
Police also said they recovered a fully loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic handgun. There were no injuries to any officers or civilians, police said.
Charges are pending.
