NYPD: Man Sought For Questioning In Connection With Central Park Sex Attack

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have released a photo of the man they want to question in connection with a rape in Central Park.

Police said they are looking to question 32-year-old Omar Hoist.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a woman was walking on East 88 Street near 5th Avenue when she was approached by a man, who began talking to her as they walked toward Central Park, police said.

The two entered the park near 100 Street, walked along a bike path and then sat on a bench, police said. That's when police said the man turned violent. He dragged the woman into a grassy area and raped her, police said.

She was eventually able to get away and ran to Mt. Sinai Hospital. The man took off on foot in the opposite direction, police said.

The man was seen on surveillance video walking with the victim before the attack and then again alone after the attack, police said.

He is described as a black man in his early 30s and between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9, police said. He was last seen wearing a red hat, black leather jacket and blue jeans.

Police said the suspect told the victim his name was Omar.
