NYPD: Man In Armored Truck Guard Uniform Steals $15K From Queens Business
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say a man dressed as an armored truck guard stole nearly $15,000 in cash from a check cashing business.
It happened around 10:15 a.m. on July 22 at Lorenzo's Enterprises in Queens.
Police say the suspect, who was wearing a GARDA Armored Courier uniform, walked in and said he was there for a pickup. The suspect was handed the cash by an employee and then left the store.
Workers didn't think anything was strange until a real armored guard showed up a few hours later for a scheduled pickup.
When they contacted the company, they found out the first armored guard was not a real employee.
Police say the suspect was described as Hispanic, about 33 to 34-years-old and was last seen wearing the GARDA uniform. He is still at large.
