NYPD: 'Suspicious' Packages At Credit Suisse Bank 'Harmless'
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police say two suspicious packages in the mailroom at Credit Suisse bank's offices are harmless.
The company says it evacuated its offices on Madison Avenue in Manhattan as a precaution.
The packages were at first deemed suspicious after being X-rayed. Police investigated and say the packages did not pose a threat.
Last week, German police said a package addressed to Deutsche Bank chief executive Josef Ackermann contained a fully functional bomb capable of exploding. That package was intercepted in the mailroom of the bank's Frankfurt headquarters.
Authorities say a letter from an anarchist group accompanied the bomb. It promised "three explosions against banks, bankers, ticks and bloodsuckers."
