NY Food Truck Lunch: Kimchi Falafel Rice Bowl From Domo Taco

Perry, the voice behind New York Street Food, brings you his latest review on New York City food trucks.

After opening the truck with just tacos, Domo Taco introduced rice bowls a while back. At first, rice bowls were only with their regular fillings, but they recently began the kimchi falafel rice bowl, which costs $8. As you can guess, this would be a good meal for vegetarians.

Carrying lunch back to the office, the container was pretty heavy. Opening the lid, there were 4 large falafel balls, tomato salsa, black beans and pineapple salsa, all served over a large amount of white rice.

The falafel balls were among the larger we've seen from food trucks. Outside was nicely fried, and inside was quite moist, almost as if we squeezed the falafel, kimchi juice would drip out. Not quite, but you get the point.

There was a tartness to the falafel that you don't usually get, which must have come from the kimchi. It wasn't visible, but we could definitely taste it.

Moving on to the side dishes, the black edamame beans were good, firm but not hard. We're not big tomato fans, so we can't really comment on the salsa, but it appeared to be basically diced tomato and red onions.

We are big pineapple fans, so the pineapple salsa was an enjoyable way to end the meal. There were pieces of cucumber and red onion along with the pineapple.
