Nanuet Man Pleads Guilty To Threatening Cuomo, Bloomberg, Schumer And More

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Rockland County man accused of making death threats on Facebook against some of the nation's highest-ranking officeholders has pleaded guilty.

Lawrence Mulqueen, of Nanuet, was accused of making death threats against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Sen. Charles Schumer, Rep. Nita Lowey, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Harry Reid and members of the Congressional Black Caucus.

"Their dirt nap is coming very soon," Mulqueen allegedly wrote on Facebook.

Federal prosecutors had previously argued that Mulqueen provided his like-minded Facebook friends with a how-to on the most effective weapons to use in carrying out death threats, WCBS 880′s Alex Silverman reported.

He told the judge Tuesday he never meant to harm anyone.

In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of 12 to 18 months.

Police said they found two illegal rifles and other weapons in his apartment.

If he had gone to trial, Mulqueen would have faced up to 15 years in prison. Federal sentencing guidelines likely would have meant a shorter term.
