NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A dozen new names were added to the NYPD Memorial Wall in Battery Park City Friday.
As WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported, uniformed officers wore white gloves as they pulled back a black shroud and unveiled the names of 12 NYPD colleagues who died from 9/11-related illnesses.

Mayor de Blasio was there to pay tribute.
"Toxic dusts swirled around them as they did their duty. As they searched tirelessly for survivors. They assisted in all the rescue and recovery efforts. This was extraordinarily difficult and noble duty," he said.
Mayor de Blasio said we continue to be inspired by those who ran toward the danger that day and by those who came back day after day to help, despite the risk.
In September, three retired FDNY firefighters died on the same day due to 9/11-related illnesses.
Lt. Howard Bischoff and firefighters Robert Leaver and Daniel Heglund all died; all three worked at ground zero in the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks.
