Officials: Car Strikes Pedestrians Near Central Park
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Four people were injured Monday afternoon when a livery cab jumped a curb near Central Park, officials said.
The crash happened at Fifth Avenue and 59th Street in front of the General Motors Building, which houses the Apple Store and the FAO Schwarz toy store.
Witnesses said the Toyota Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed on 59th Street when it lost control and first struck a utility pole.

"I heard a car accelerating, as if the pedal might've been stuck or what," a man told CBS2's Matt Kozar. "And it hit this corner about 60, 65 miles an hour. Hit two people."
Police told CBS2 that two pedestrians and two people inside the car were injured. They describe their injuries as mostly minor.
Witnesses told WCBS 880's Marla Diamond a man was struck so hard that he was tossed several feet into the air and smashed his head on the concrete on the way down. They said there was a lot of blood.

Vendor Frank Bruno told 1010 WINS' Al Jones the driver was slumped over the wheel of his vehicle after the moment of impact.
"Went to the driver and the driver was slumped over, also must have hit his head and was bleeding quite a bit," he said.
Witnesses said the driver appeared to be in shock and remained behind the wheel until paramedics arrived.
Cellphone video shows good Samaritans assisting the injured.
All four of the injured were transported to hospitals.
As of Monday evening, the driver had not been charged. Police have removed the vehicle and are still investigating.
