Mets Minor Leaguer Edgar Ramirez Suspended 50 Games
NEW YORK (AP) — Mets minor league pitcher Edgar Ramirez has been suspended for 50 games after a positive test.
Ramirez tested positive for Methylhexaneamine, the commissioner's office said Monday. He was penalized under baseball's minor league drug program.
The 27-year-old right-hander is 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA in two starts and seven relief appearances this season at Double-A Binghamton.
There have been 25 suspensions this year under the minor league program. While there have not been any suspensions under the major league program, Manny Ramirez retired rather than face a 100-game ban following a second violation.
