Matt Harvey Attends Jeter's Home Finale, Twitter Goes Bananas
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A baseball star caused a quite the hubbub when he decided to take in a game -- OK, not just any game -- at Yankee Stadium.
We're not talking about Troy Tulowitzki. Not this time, anyhow.
Mets ace Matt Harvey -- no stranger to social media dust-ups -- was on hand to watch Derek Jeter's grand finale in the Bronx on Thursday night. And the reaction on Twitter, where his name was trending, was all over the map.
"Tonight is about #RE2PECT!!" Harvey posted on Instagram. "Saying farewell and paying the man this game has been blessed to have! A childhood idol and it's now an honor to call a friend!!!"
What's the big deal? The Mets were also in action, playing the second game of a doubleheader in Washington.

For their part, the Mets didn't seem bothered by Harvey's choice in weeknight activities. Neither were most fans, according to Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog.com.
Harvey, coming off Tommy John surgery, plans to make his grand return to the field -- Citi Field -- for Opening Day 2015.
