Manhattan Restaurant 'Millesime' Offers Vintage 4-Course Meal For $1.25

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- One trendy Manhattan restaurant decided to treat customers with a very vintage price Thursday.

Millesime, a French restaurant located inside the Carlton Hotel in Murray Hill, offered a four-course tasting menu that included Oyster Rockefeller, tomato bisque, an ice cream sundae and the choice of either chicken marengo or lamb stew as the main course.

The best part? Customers got it all for a cool $1.25. Oh and soft drinks, tea and coffee? Only 25 cents.

Millesime, which means "vintage" in French, offered the special to celebrate the opening of its 29th Street entrance last used back in 1904 when the building was the Hotel Seville.

"David" and his wife from Atlanta read about the promotion and used it as their excuse to come visit their son in New York.

"It's a wonderful promotional idea," he said.

A woman named "Stella" from the Upper East Side said she didn't want to miss the special, but one hit a hitch. Her lunch date couldn't find parking.

"[You have to be] willing to spend $20 maybe for an hour or a half hour [of] parking," she told 1010 WINS' Eileen Lehpamer.

The restaurant offered the special Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and again from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for dinner.

Reservations were not accepted for the special.

Millesime, which seats 170 people at a time, said about 400 people showed up for lunch. More were believed to have come for dinner.
