Man Hurt After Falling From Top Of Subway Car On UES

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 45-year-old man was seriously hurt Wednesday when he fell from the top of a subway car on the Upper East Side, sources told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria.

It happened sometime around noon near the 96th Street station. The man, who was apparently riding on top of a 6 train, fell between cars when he hit his head on a steel beam, sources said.

The man was taken to the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.

It's unclear why the man was on top of the train.

As a result of the ongoing investigation into the incident, the MTA said southbound 6 trains were bypassing 96th Street for a time. Normal service resumed with residual delays just after 2 p.m.
