Numerous guns, drugs and thousands in cash found at Long Beach home, police say

A Long Beach man was arrested after investigators found guns, various illegal drugs and thousands in cash at his Long Island home.

Members of the FBI, Long Beach Police Department and Nassau County Police Department executed a search warrant Friday at a house on JJ Evans Boulevard.

Investigators found 23 firearms, including two ghost guns, and a large quantity of ammunition. They also found more than 230 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of fentanyl, 536 grams of methamphetamine, more than 13 grams of MDMA and a large quantity of pills.

More than $100,000 in cash, drug packaging materials and paraphernalia were also recovered, according to law enforcement officials. 

Charles Burns, 34, was arrested as a result of the investigation. He is facing a host of charges, including criminal possession of controlled substances and criminal possession of a weapon. 

"This arrest is the result of strong police work and close cooperation among law enforcement agencies," said Long Beach Police Department Commissioner Richard DePalma. "Our agencies shared information, worked together, and followed the evidence. When we work together, we are stronger."

The department said the seizure of 23 guns and a large amount of drugs will make the community safer as the school year begins. 

The house involved in the investigation was across from a playground and near a church and the Long Beach Full Year Head Start school. 

"This defendant allegedly maintained a stockpile of illegal firearms, including untraceable ghost guns, and dangerous amounts of deadly narcotics inside his home, putting families at serious risk," said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly.

Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate.
