Man Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Hackensack Resident

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities say charges are pending against a man who allegedly stabbed an acquaintance while they argued on a northern New Jersey street.

Hackensack police tell The Record that 20-year-old Fabian Chimborazo-Saeteros tried to flee after the stabbing occurred early Sunday, but he was captured by police after a short foot pursuit.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

Authorities say Chimborazo-Saeteros is a native of Ecuador who was living in the United States illegally. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for failing to show at a deportation hearing.

A motive for the stabbing remains under investigation. Authorities did not say what the two men were arguing about, and details on the injured man's condition were not disclosed.
