Second Man Charged In Theft Of $150K In Cash Left Behind By ATM Worker In Mahwah

MAHWAH, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities have arrested the second man suspected of making off with a bag containing $150,000 in cash that was mistakenly left behind by ATM workers in New Jersey.

Officers found 35-year-old Jamar Bludson at a motel in Newark. He is being held on $125,000 bail, charged with theft of mislaid property.

The incident, which was captured on surveillance video, happened outside a business in Mahwah on July 27.

The video shows a worker for placing the bag of cash down next to his car on Industrial Avenue before driving off.

The man, who was accompanied by another employee, was rearranging items in his trunk just before leaving his office to replenish ATMs and forgot the bag on the ground, police said.

Soon after, the video shows a white GMC Savana van pull up and a passenger steps out, grabs the bag and jumps back in before the vehicle drives off.

Police believe Bludson was the one captured on surveillance video grabbing the bag of cash. The driver of the van, 42-year-old Alton Harvey of Hillside, was arrested on July 31.

Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said Harvey told detectives that he bought an SUV with some of the money soon after finding it.
