Long Island Has First Human West Nile Case Of Year
HUNTINGTON, NY (WCBS 880) - A Huntington man is the first human on Long Island to contract the West Nile Virus this year.

The Suffolk County Health Department says the man was sick for five days and his symptoms included fever, body aches, swollen glands, and a skin rash.
He has fully recovered.
Doctors say if you see dead birds on your property, that could be a sign of the West Nile Virus.
To report dead birds in Suffolk County, call the West Nile Virus hotline at 631-787-2200 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday).
The virus is spread from infected mosquitos.
Since 1999, seven people have died in the county from the illness.
