Kathie Durst's Family Demands Answers About Alleged Cover-Up After Robert Durst Indicted Decades Later

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A week after millionaire real estate tycoon Robert Durst was charged in his wife's death, the victim's family is demanding answers.

Kathie Durst vanished nearly 40 years ago, and her body was never found.

Her family wants to know what took so long to press charges. They're urging Westchester County's district attorney to investigate whether it was a cover-up.

"We're going to go after everybody," McCormack family attorney Bob Abrams said Tuesday. "Who got paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to participate in this cover-up."

"My family and I have serious questions, and we deserve answers," said Kathie Durst's brother, James McCormack.

The indictment came just weeks after Durst was sentenced to life in prison for killing his best friend, Susan Berman, in 2000.

Earlier this month, Durst's lawyers said he was on a ventilator after contracting COVID-19.
