Dozens of employers from the private and public sectors want to hire a few good women and men from the armed forces, says Christine Pons from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

"Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and private companies such as Time Warner Cable. We've also got Verizon who has signed up for this," Pons said.

Pons says they expect roughly 500 veterans to take part in the job fair.

She says it's their mission to help the soldiers with their transition.

"The priority here is getting those veterans educated, trained, and able to use their skills in careers in both the public and private sector," she told WCBS 880 reporter Monica Miller.

The doors are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Lower Manhattan at the New York regional V.A. office at 245 West Houston Street, 3rd floor.
