Jets Reportedly Call Henne, Will Meet With Stanton About Backup QB Role
NEW YORK (WFAN) - With NFL free agency now under way, and the Jets seeking a No. 2 gunslinger to back up Mark Sanchez, Gang Green has made a call to ex-Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne, The Star-Ledger reports.
The paper is also reporting that New York will bring Lions free-agent quarterback Drew Stanton to the Big Apple for a visit.
Henne, 26. would make sense for the Jets, as the Michigan graduate played three-and-a-half seasons under Tony Sparano, the Jets' new offensive coordinator.
Over four seasons with the Dolphins, Henne passed for 7,114 yards, 31 touchdowns and 37 interceptions. But the 2008 second-round pick started only four games for Miami in 2011. as a separated shoulder suffered in Week 4 sidelined him for the final 12 games of the season.
Stanton, 27, didn't throw a pass for Detroit in 2011.
Do you think the Jets should sign Henne? Might he even be able to take Sanchez's starting spot? Sound off below...
