It's Hungerthon Day At WCBS 880 And 1010 WINS

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Thanksgiving is only two days away, and today you can help people from going hungry.

Every year, WCBS Newsradio 880, 1010 WINS, and the stations of CBS Radio  devote a day to battling hunger with our partners at WhyHunger by putting on the annual Hungerthon.

We'll be auctioning off great items and you can bid on them. Here are just some of them. You'll find the full list at

You and three of your friends can attend a taping of CBS News Sunday Morning and then have brunch with the esteemed Charles Osgood, our poet-in-residence. CLICK HERE to bid.

You and two of your friends can have the "ultimate power lunch" with WCBS 880 / Wall Street Journal business reporter Joe Connolly. CLICK HERE to bid.

If lunch isn't your thing, you can have Joe Connolly speak at your next engagement in New York. CLICK HERE to bid.

If football is your thing, you can bring three of your friends to a pre-season Jets game in 2012 and get a behind-the-scenes look at the television broadcast. CLICK HERE to bid.

Perhaps you're more of a hockey fan? Well, how about four club seats for the New Jersey Devils / Boston Bruins game on January 4, 2012 at the Prudential Center? CLICK HERE to bid on that.

Let's get back to food. You can take three of your friends to brunch with actor and commentator Charles Grodin. If you're young, you might remember him as the dad from the "Beethoven" movies. CLICK HERE to bid.

Now, if you prefer lunch to brunch, you can dine with newsman Tony Guida and WhyHunger co-founder and radio host Bill Ayres. CLICK HERE to bid.

You can also call to make a donation to the cause at 1-800-5-HUNGRY.

To purchase them, visit

A pack of ten Hungerthon "Imagine" bracelets is just $10. You can get the Hungerthon t-shirt for a donation of $50 or the sweatshirt for $80. The Hungerthon necklace and pin are $25 each. You can get the entire package for $175.

Yoko Ono has been generous in allowing WhyHunger to utilize the words and imagery of her late husband John Lennon and we at CBS Radio very much appreciate that.

World Hunger Year was co-founded by the late singer Harry Chapin ("Taxi" and "Cats in the Cradle" being two of his biggest hits).

When Harry was alive, money was raised by Harry donating a portion of the money he made at his concerts.

After being killed in a car crash on Long Island close to thirty years ago, the work was carried on by Bill Ayres and most of Harry's family, including Tom Chapin who is a singer-songwriter/actor/author and much more.
