Is Mayor Bloomberg Reaching For Higher Office?

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been traveling around the country this election season endorsing candidates and backing issues, and there are more trips in prospect.

"He has obviously never stopped thinking about the presidency," political analyst and St. Francis College scholar-in-residence Fred Siegel told WCBS 880 reporter Rich Lamb. "His assumption is, I'm just intuiting this, his assumption is if Obama is enormously unpopular and the Republicans nominate someone who is unacceptable to half the country, say someone like Sarah Palin, then there's room for him."

Siegel says you don't have people like Howard Wolfson and Doug Schoen on your staff unless you are thinking about a national campaign.
