How To Snack Right: Healthy Food Choices

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Most of us enjoy a snack or two throughout the day -- but snacking doesn't have to mean chowing down on unhealthy things.

Sylwia Wiesenberg, fitness expert and founder of Tonique Fitness, joined us to share the secrets of snacking right. When done correctly, it can be helpful in controlling your appetite.

Fresh fruits like cherries, watermelon, frozen banana and frozen grapes (instead of ice cream) can be perfect snacks for. Cucumbers are also a good choice, as they keep us hydrated and slim.

Regular pretzels aren't the best option, as they are pure carbohydrates with salt added. The healthy alternative is to eat whole grain pretzels, and there are also pretzels made of sprouted flour and enhanced with chia seas. These are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and help us to stay hydrated and full for longer.
