Officials Investigating Death Of 28-Year-Old Man Who Struggled With Police

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities say a man who struggled with police after he was found lying on a street this week has died.

But it's not yet clear what caused the death of Daniel Nagahama.

Middlesex County prosecutors say the 28-year-old Edison man was found around 5:15 p.m. Thursday on South Fifth Avenue in Highland Park. They say Nagahama became belligerent and struggled with police as they tried to revive him.

Nagahama was not arrested but was taken to the hospital. He died there about three hours later.

Nagahama's death was made public on Saturday. Prosecutors say an autopsy was performed, but the results were not immediately available.

The death has been reported to the state Attorney General's office, which is standard policy in such cases.
