Report: Beckham, Cruz Won't Be Fined For 9/11 Cleats

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Giants wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Victor Cruz won't be fined for wearing 9/11-themed cleats Sunday on the 15th anniversary of the attacks, according to a report.

The NFL last week threatened to fine players who violated its notoriously strict uniform policy. But citing an unnamed source, ESPN reported Wednesday that Beckham and Cruz won't be disciplined.

Shortly before that report broke, Beckham told reporters he expected to be fined.

"I haven't heard from (the NFL)," Beckham said. "They'll probably fine me. They fine me for everything. They fine me for smiling."

Both players' shoes featured American flag designs on them, while Beckham's also included a bald eagle. They wore different cleats during pregame warm-ups -- Beckham's showed first responders saving lives, Cruz's had "FDNY" emblazoned on them.

Titans linebacker Avery Williamson and Colts punter Pat McAfee also wore patriotic cleats during their teams' games. They are not expected to be fined, either.
