Former NYPD 'Cop Of The Year' Arrested For Allegedly Buying 10 Kilos Of Cocaine

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The man was literally "New York's Finest."

Phillip LeRoy was arrested Monday night in Sunrise City, Fla. while trying to buy 10 kilos of cocaine, according to police.

He faces weapons, drug and conspiracy charges. He's being held on $250,000 bail.

LeRoy was named "Cop of the Year" at his precinct in Queens back in 2012. When he won the honor he was praised by then-Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

According to the New York Post, LeRoy had racked up 188 arrests from when he joined the force in 2009 to June of 2012.

He has been suspended by the NYPD.
