Police: Car Jumps Curb In Crown Heights, 3 Pedestrians Struck

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Three people were struck by a sport-utility vehicle in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn on Thursday night.

A black Hyundai was moving down Kingston Avenue when it collided with a white Infinity that was going eastbound on Eastern Parkway shortly before 7 p.m., police said.

The Infinity hopped the curb and slammed into two women and a man.

Witnesses described a gruesome scene.

"I ran outside and then when I got to the corner I see three people laying on the ground. One lady, her leg was off, her foot was bleeding. The guy that was in the white car, he was laying on the ground," Simone Allyne told CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco.

One of the victims wound up pinned between a light post and the Infinity, according to Allyne.

In total, seven people were injured.

The driver and a passenger in the Infinity refused medical treatment at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuries.

One female pedestrian was listed in critical condition at Kings County Hospital after suffering severe head trauma. Another woman suffered severe leg trauma and the male pedestrian also suffered head trauma, 1010 WINS reported.

The cause of the accident remained unclear, but witnesses said that one of the vehicles may have ran a red light.

"The white car was coming down Eastern Parkway going toward Brooklyn, ran the red light. The black car was coming down Kingston and hit the white car which made the white car hit the lamp pole and two pedestrians were standing there," Allyne said.
