Firefighters Battle Brush Fires In Edison, New Jersey Marshlands
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Three brush fires swept across marshlands in New Jersey Wednesday afternoon.
The flames broke out around 1:30 p.m. near Sweetwater Lane in Edison.
Chopper2 was over the scene where at least 75 acres have been burned since the fires started.
The fire quickly engulfed an old trailer, construction equipment and several vehicles, CBS2 reported.
Several engine companies were at the scene trying to get the flames under control.
Firefighters are battling the fire on the ground and from above. Helicopters equipped with buckets have been dropping water onto the flames from the air.
No injuries have been reported, and most of the high flames were knocked down by the early evening, CBS2's Joe Biermann reported.
By 8 p.m., the fires were out.
