NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Authorities said they have arrested the man responsible for at least 15 trash can fires around Manhattan over the last two weeks.
FDNY fire marshals arrested Armando Calderon on Tuesday. He reportedly told them he was homeless and angry about his circumstances.
A witness had described the suspect to police on Monday as a woman.
The first fire was around 3 p.m. Monday in front of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Others were set between Fifth and Lexington avenues and 41st and 45th streets.
The fire department used three engines and two trucks to put out the small fires, which melted the plastic garbage bins.
Police say the suspect also was caught on video setting fires on March 5. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
