Families Of Slain NYPD Officers Throw Out First Pitch At Mets' Home Opener
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — The families of two slain New York City police officers threw out the first pitch at the Mets' home opener at Citi Field on Monday.
The relatives of Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were joined by Mayor Bill de Blasio and other NYPD and city officials.
Ramos and Liu were shot to death as they sat in their parked NYPD patrol car in Brooklyn in December.
The Mets paid tribute to their sacrifice and showed their images on the park's giant video screen.
Officer Liu's widow and Officer Ramos' son all wore Mets No. 15 jerseys as they walked to the mound, WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported.

Ramos' son, Justin Ramos, wiped tears from his eyes during the ceremony.
"We've grown up as lifelong Mets fans and it's just kind of a dream come true," he said.
Liu's widow, Pei Xia Chen, was excited.
"We are so happy to be here with the Mets on opening day, and our family wants to thank the Mets for everything they did for us," she said. "Let's go Mets."
Ramos' two sons and Liu's widow threw out the pitches to Mets players David Wright, Matt Harvey and Curtis Granderson.
The families were loudly cheered.
De Blasio was largely booed by the sellout crowd.
