Cuomo Calls For Special Election To Fill Seat Left Vacant By Former Rep. Anthony Weiner
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced there will be a special election to fill the congressional seat left vacant by former Rep. Anthony Weiner.
The special election for the 9th Congressional District will be held on September 13 to coincide with the state's primary elections.
Weiner announced his resignation on June 16 in the wake of a Twitter sex scandal that prompted numerous calls from colleagues for the embattled lawmaker to step down.
