Cops: Pit Bull Attacks Four People At L.I. Doggie Daycare Facility

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A pit bull attacked four people at a Long Island doggie daycare facility, police said.

Four women -- three employees and one customer -- were bitten by a 2-year-old pit bull named Gino at the Hounds Town USA facility in Ronkonkoma around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

Owner Michael Gould said the dog became aggressive after he was taken out of his cage to be walked.

Two of the women needed stitches, WBCS 880's Sophia Hall reported. The other two victims suffered minor injuries.

Gould said the dog had been at the facility before and had never shown any signs of aggression.

"I was taken aback because it was so unpredictable," Gould said.

This is the first time a dog has attacked anyone in the 12 years that the facility has been open, Gould said.

Gino will be confined for 10 days to be tested for rabies and then the owner will decide whether to euthanize the dog or place the animal in a sanctuary, Hall reported.
