Coast Guard Cutter Eagle Stops In NYC On Way To Connecticut
NEW YORK (AP / WCBS 880) - The historic Coast Guard cutter Eagle is making a weekend port call in New York City as its final stop before returning to its home in Connecticut.

The vessel arrived this morning at Pier 7 in Brooklyn, N.Y. It'll be open for tours starting at 2 p.m. Friday, and at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
A citizenship ceremony was held on board Friday morning, presided over by Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
The Eagle is carrying 140 cadets from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., from which it departed in May for its 75th anniversary voyage to Europe.
The Eagle was built in 1936 as the Horst Wessel in Hamburg, Germany, one of the spots it visited during the voyage. The U.S. claimed it among WW II reparations and re-commissioned it in 1946.
