Suspect Pleads Guilty In Connection To 2019 Robbery That Led To Friendly Fire Death Of NYPD Detective

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The man who held up a Queens cell phone store in 2019, sparking the friendly fire death of an NYPD detective, pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter Wednesday.

Christopher Ransom admitted to robbing a Richmond Hill store with a fake gun.

Responding officers fired several rounds after Ransom refused to drop the real-looking weapon. Det. Brian Simonsen was shot by friendly fire and died.

Ransom now faces up to 33 years in prison at his sentencing in November.
