Police: Man Rapes Woman In Central Park After Offering To Walk Her Home
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A man who offered to walk a woman home through Central Park ended up raping and robbing her at knifepoint, police say.
The 35-year-old victim and her female friend were at an apartment on West 110th Street and Lenox Avenue in Harlem on Monday night when they decided to walk home together through the park, 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria.
In the park, the victim's friend saw a man she knew and introduced him. The two women eventually went their separate ways and the man offered to walk the victim home, D'Auria reported.
While they walked through Central Park, he pulled a knife, then raped and physically assaulted her, police said. He knocked out her dentures, and stole her purse and cellphone, D'Auria reported.
The victim refused medical attention.
The suspect was described as a black man, approximately 30 years old, weighing 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, tan pants and brown shoes. He was carrying a black book bag.
