Brooklyn Teacher Jumps Into Action To Save Woman In Williamsburg Restaurant
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) --A city school teacher is being hailed a hero.
Cassandra Byrd-Scolaro jumped into action at the S & B Restaurant in Williamsburg during her lunch break Wednesday.
When a woman collapsed in the bathroom and stopped breathing, the teacher performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
The woman was taken to Woodhull Hospital. Her condition was not known Thursday.
"I'm thinking, 'Oh my god, oh my god, someone almost died and I just saved her life,'" Byrd-Scolaro said. "You get a little nervous but it doesn't matter, you just do what you got to do."
Word spread quickly at P.S. 17, where Byrd-Scolaro teaches fourth grade.
Students made signs calling her a hero.
