Suspect In Deadly Brooklyn Hit-And-Run Due In Court

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man arrested in a connection with a hit-and-run death in Brooklyn faces arraignment on Tuesday.

Joshua Colon, 24, is charged with murder, robbery and grand larceny, police said.

Police said Colon jumped into Phillip Dellegrazia's flatbed truck that had been idling outside his business in Greenwood Heights at about 9 a.m. Monday.

Dellegrazia followed Colon in another vehicle, police said. When he caught up to his truck, he tried to get back into the cab, but police said he fell and was fatally struck by the truck as it drove away.

"When he tried to steal the truck, he tried to stop him," a witness said. "Instead, he ran him over."

Colon then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, police said.

Surveillance video allegedly showed him running down Brooklyn's Fifth Avenue and into a nearby bakery, appearing to change his clothes moments after the crash.

He was later arrested.
