Brooklyn Bridge Pup Crawl Raises Money, Awareness For Shelter Animals

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) The Brooklyn Bridge is going to the dogs!

The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals and help launch the Second Annual "Pup Crawl", with 500 dogs – from Great Danes to Miniature Schnauzers – marching across the Brooklyn Bridge just after sunset on Saturday, October 22, to raise funds for shelter and rescue pets across the country.

Dogs and owners will use illuminated dog leashes to shed light on the cause and encourage people across the country to donate to and adopt from local animal shelters and rescues.

The first Pup Crawl was held on the Brooklyn Bridge in September 2009. "Since then", says Mayor's Alliance President Jane Hoffman, "Pup Crawls have taken place on bridges in California, Arizona and Pennsylvania, collectively raising tens of thousands of dollars for local animal rescue organizations".
