Police Identify Suspect In Attack On Deli Workers In The Bronx
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The NYPD wants your help locating a suspect in an assault at a Bronx deli that left two workers hurt.
The assault took place at the Habibi Deli on East Gun Hill Road at around 8:40 p.m. Thursday night.
It all began when the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Timothy Bohler, walked into the deli and tried to purchase a drink on credit, police said.
The deli workers refused, and the situation escalated. Bohler threw the drink at the worker, cutting his face, police said. Bohler then left and came back a few minutes later with a gun, according to police. He allegedly pistol-whipped another 23-year-old deli worker in the head and then drove off in a red 2010 Dodge Charger. An 18-year-old woman was a passenger in the car.
Police who responded to the deli got a description of the vehicle and found it at Allerton Avenue and Tiemann Avenue.
At Brunner Avenue, police responding to the scene heard a gunshot and a gun was thrown from the car, according to police.
Bohler then got out of the car and took off at Waring Avenue and Tiemann Avenue.
Police took the 18-year-old into woman custody and a pistol was recovered, police said. She has been interviewed and released and has not been charged.
Both deli workers were taken to the hospital.
