Brick Beating Victim Hopeful Of Finding Attacker
NEW YORK (CBS 2) -- The victim of a violent purse snatching that occurred outside a Manhattan subway station spoke out Friday in the hope of catching her attacker.
Eunice Bae said the attack happened as she was leaving 18th Street Station on Nov. 9 at around 1:30 a.m. Bae told CBS 2's Pablo Guzman the suspect was walking towards her and after some "glancing eye contact," he began to hit her with a brick until he ran off with her purse.
"At first I thought I got punched in the head and then, as he continued, I realized he had something in his hand," Bae said.
Bae fell to the ground and sustained a concussion and had to get seven staples in the back of her head.
In addition, because blood had gotten on her iPhone, she had difficultly calling 911. She did, however, get a good look at her alleged attacker and was able to help police with a detailed sketch.
"I remembered his clothes actually. It was like a grayish-green hoodie," said Bae, who works as a stylist and graphics artist.
Bae said the suspect also was wearing a "skull cap or a doo-rag." Police hope the sketch will lead to a break in the case.
