Boomer & Carton: A Somber Start, Earning Your Money And Sitting With Monks

With the abundance of unfortunate stories circulating through the news cycle, Boomer and Craig began Thursday's radio program on a somewhat somber note, acknowledging the deaths of their CBS colleague Bob Simon and Hall of Fame basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian, as well as the serious condition of former Knick and friend of the show Anthony Mason after he suffered a massive heart attack that has left him fighting for his life.

Some days are certainly better than others.

Carmelo Anthony sat out of the Knicks' latest game - an 89-83 loss to the Magic in Orlando - but is apparently planning on playing in Sunday's NBA All-Star Game.  With that said, Boomer and Craig aren't so sure the Melo man is earning his lofty paycheck -- and he is not alone by the way.

Eventually the guys were able to have a little fun with the story surrounding Mets pitcher Matt Harvey's trip to Laos where he served rice to monks and according to Craig was spoken to by the Dalai Lama.  Upon learning this, Craig had a epiphany of sorts and this morning he is rather confident the Mets are gonna make the playoffs.
