Boil Water Advisory Lifted For All 22 Towns In Monmouth County
MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Environmental officials say the water in Monmouth County is now safe to drink in all 22 towns.
The boil water advisory was lifted earlier Monday evening.
Since Friday, residents have been forced to boil their water and use bottled water to drink and brush their teeth.
With the heat and humidity of the last few days, families were going through dozens of bottles of water each day.
The mandatory outdoor water ban will continue despite the fact that some homeowners are not happy about it.
The water woes began when a bridge collapsed and caused three water mains to break at New Jersey American Water Company's Lincroft treatment plant.
On Monday night, crews were installing new water pipes in an effort to fully resolve the situation.
