5 Best Spots To Celebrate National Pancake Month In NYC

Most people know Locanda Verde for impeccable Italian cuisine but did you know that Chef Carmellini is also whipping up some seriously delicious pancakes? Head over to this beautiful restaurant, located inside the Greenwich Hotel, and order the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($18) for breakfast. Their perfectly fluffy and arrive with fresh blueberries and meyer lemon curd. It doesn't get much better than that. Well, unless you add a side of their Smoked Bacon ($8).

Now that Clinton Street Baking Company has opened up a second location (right next door to their current space), you may not have to wait hours to eat their delicious pancakes. Every day this month, they're be featuring some of their favorite creations including Fresh Coconut Pancakes with caramelized pineapple, bruleed bananas, and roasted macadamia nuts and Raspberry Pancakes with their famous raspberry jam, fresh raspberries, toasted almond butter, and vanilla whipped cream. And of course, you can smother as much warm maple butter on them that you want.

If you're looking for something on the savory side, grab a seat at Brother Jimmy's in Union Square and ask for the off-the-menu HoeCake. Chef Eva Pesantez has put her own spin on this crispy fried cake that's made with cornmeal, water, and salt. She's topping each one with your choice of BBQ pulled pork, pulled chicken, or brisket and then finishing it off with plenty of coleslaw and chipotle BBQ sauce. This marriage of breakfast and BBQ is not to be missed.

The holidays may be over but the folks over at Café Orlin are busy serving up their decadent pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon yogurt ($9). These orange creations are dense, filling, and full of flavor. Pumpkin not your thing? Try a stack of their buttermilk pancakes ($8.50) topped with berry compote. You can also add bananas or blueberries (or both). If you still want a bit of protein, a side of chicken and pistachio sausage or smoked salmon will do the trick.

It's hard to go wrong with the pancakes over at Bubby's. This classic American diner has been grilling up these goodies for more than 25 years. Order Bubby's Pancakes ($19) and bite into a fluffy stack with caramelized bananas, berry compote, and maple syrup. If you're really hungry, get the Griddle Special ($19), which comes with two eggs, pancake, bacon, and pork sausage. Don't forget to indulge in their hot chocolate ($4) – Valrhona chocolate, steamed cream, and a homemade marshmallow.
