It is unclear where the staph infection was contracted.
Locker rooms, gyms and rest rooms have been thoroughly cleaned to prevent the spread of infection, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.
MRSA is a bacteria that is resistant to certain antibiotics and is spread through skin-to-skin contact, said Suffolk Department of Health spokesperson Grace Kelly-McGovern.
"Parents should not be concerned, they should just be vigilant and have their children practice good hygiene -- take baths and showers, wash their hands often," McGovern said.
Students have been advised to take home and wash all uniforms and athletic clothing.
