Authorities ID Man Slain In Irvington Bar Shooting

IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities in northern New Jersey say a Newark man was killed in a shooting outside an Irvington go-go bar that left four other men wounded.

Katherine Carter, a spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutors office, said 29-year-old Shihaab Loyal was shot around 4:30 p.m. Friday and died a short time later. But further details on the incident were not disclosed Saturday, including how many times Loyal was shot and what type of weapon his assailant used.

Carter said the four other victims were being treated for wounds that were not considered life-threatening, but did not disclose their identities.

It was not known what spurred the shooting, though witnesses reported hearing at least six shots.

Carter said no arrests had been made.
