NYPD: Suspect Made Anti-Gay Statements In Queens Slashing

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are searching for a man they say made anti-gay comments and slashed a man in the face earlier this week in Queens.

It happened around 3:10 a.m. Tuesday on 77th Street near 37th Road in Jackson Heights.

Police said the men were arguing when the suspect pulled out an unknown object and slashed the 34-year-old victim on the left cheek.

He allegedly made anti-gay statements before leaving the scene.

The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). You can also submit a tip via their website or on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.
