Animal Care Centers of NYC To Host Third Pit Bowl In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork)  Animal Care Centers of New York City is back with another "Pit Bowl", on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, from 7-10 p.m.

This fundraising event is a bowling party at Lucky Strike Lanes in Manhattan aimed at debunking the myths, and encouraging the adoption of dogs at the city's animal shelters, that fall under the pit bull classificiation of breed mixes.  Funds raised will support the animals in ACC's care.

"When people say pit bull, everyone conjures up some kind of image, and most of the time it's not a good image, and that's so false", ACC Executive Director Risa Weinstock told 1010 WINS. "There are plenty of other dogs that have all kinds of temperaments and personalities and 'pit bull' is just a generic description of a kind of dog.  It's not a breed." Weinstock is encouraging people to come out and see for themselves that these dogs make great family pets.
