Actress Gina Gershon Tells The Story Behind 'In Search Of Cleo'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If you're a pet person, you know losing for dog or cat can be excruciating.

For actress Gina Gershon, losing her precious cat Cleo led to an exhaustive search, countless false leads, and some encounters with strangers that would be impossible to believe - if they didn't actually happen.

The whole incredible story is told in Gershon's new book, "In Search of Cleo."

The actress is currently a supporting cast member of the HBO series How To Make It America. She said her experience helped her learn not to judge people, as the search for her beloved feline led her to encounters with odd folks who she wouldn't normally speak to.

This, along with several other hysterical incidents, is part of the reason she wrote it.

"I never really had any intention of writing a book," Gershon said.

"I think cat lovers and animal lovers especially get it, on an obvious level," she said. "But it's really about what people do in order to find true love and what they'll go through, and I think other can really relate to."
